Blast stencil is made of synthetic rubber. As an elastic material, it is highly resistant to sandblasting, despite its small thickness of 0.5-1.2 mm. Blast stencil is used when you want to make texts and decorations on, for example, gravestones or other stone objects, glass or wooden surfaces. When using machine blast stencile, the cutting is performed with a computer-controlled stencil cutter and the tape is glued to the surface of the stone, pre-cut, and the stone is grit-blasted through the protective layer formed by the stencil.
The stencil has two layers of liner (outer clear and inner yellow). The engraving is done without piercing the liners themselves. After this, the outer clear liner is removed and the stencil is placed on the stone with the yellow liner first. After this, the letters are plucked off and the text is blown (through the yellow liner) onto the stone.
